Helsinki-Vantaa Airport has been selected for the Northern Europe’s Best Airport 2010 in Skytrax World Airport Awards. In the whole of Europe, Helsinki-Vantaa was rated fourth and was in fourteenth place worldwide. The Skytrax World Airport Awards were announced on March 22 at the first ever live ceremony in Brussels, Belgium, as part of the Passenger Terminal Expo. The World Airport Awards are based on the results from 9.8 million questionnaires completed by airline passengers around the globe in 2009 and 2010, covering more than 190 airports worldwide. Operating since 1999, the survey is held in highest esteem for its clarity of process and rigorously applied rules of complete independence. In previous years, Helsinki-Vantaa has picked up awards in Skytrax research for the best security procedures and baggage handling facilities.
